Come Sunshine in your hair

Someone once told me life is not to be watched from a window,

but to be lived, flesh and bones,

out there,

so come to me with bruises on your knees,

and twigs of trees woven in your hair,

come to me with scars of past loves,

come to me with fractures, with burns,

come with joy stained on all your clothes,

come bouncy, come young,

and sing songs in languages I haven't yet danced to,

from places I haven't yet been to,

come to me injured elbows,

come to me muddy knees,

come to me sunburnt cheeks, springy feet

and soil in your toes from the time you were

a little too fast

a little too careless

come to me the age you are,

the place you are,

come with lips stained from wilderness,

eyes painted in midnight,

and your hands plastered by stars,

come with bad poems,

and good stories,

come to me right

come to me wrong,

come to me good,

come to me bad,

come short,

come tall,

life, you see, is not meant to be avoided through windows,

or doors,

or walls,

break it all down

let your feet know the taste of raw grass

of rude rocks,

or crystal clear waters on sunny 11 ams,

of bugs and of the soil,

there is so much to feel and

such little time,

so come to me flowing

come to me free

there is no more room for apologies,

there is no more taste for the safe,

come to me Wild,

and meet me by brooks at the base of mountains

by the seashore

and in meadows lit in sunlight,

come with stories,

both the ones you have,

and the ones we are to create,

come to me rosy, come to me blue,

with things you did and things yet to do,

there are valleys we need to fill with laughter,

there is a planet we need to pierce with joy,

You see, all this time, I have been waiting for you,

and now that we have finally met,

let the winds stir,

let the earth shake,

let the forests rustle,

let the clouds part,

all in the glory of us,

the children who'd fallen, and risen, and fallen and risen again,

but by the end had done it all,

come to me love, running, dashing, flying and flowing,

we have both been waiting, long enough J
